Our customer is a 100-year-old European pharmaceutical company that was having difficulty managing its complex and global supply chain operations. The company had limited visibility into the performance of its suppliers which led to higher costs, delays, and quality issues. By the inherent nature of the business, the supply chain operation had multiple touch points at various geographic locations leading to staggered and disparate data collection. The customer required a solution to improve supplier performance by measuring the One Time in Full (OTIF) KPI.
DataTheta supported the customer to aggregate supplier-related data such as delivery contracts, purchase orders, and actual delivery time at various locations. The collected actual data are converted into a manipulated KPI known as OTIF. The OTIF or One-Time In-Full is an indicator that measures the suppliers’ ability to deliver the ordered items in full quantity in the prescribed delivery timeline. The manipulated KPI is showcased in a dashboard that refreshes in multiple time windows in a day to provide the OTIF of various vendors. This allows the customer to monitor granularly every vendor’s performance and ensures the resilience of the supply chain operation.
DataTheta collated the data about the suppliers, distributors, and transportation partners. The data pipeline was created to automate the data movement from the ERP to the staging table in Azure Blob storage. The data was suitably cleaned and transformed into a usable format using Azure Data Factory and stored in the data warehouse. The data manipulation was carried out to arrive at the OTIF measurement. Each computation of OTIF is stored in the atomic tables. The Power BI dashboard is created to visualize the OTIF variations.
Visuals on the dashboard assist stakeholders in monitoring performance and identifying potential risks and opportunities. Stakeholders can monitor supplier performance to ensure timely and high-quality deliveries, track inventory levels to avoid stockouts and analyze transportation costs to identify cost-cutting opportunities.
DataTheta created data governance policies and implemented security measures to limit access to sensitive data to ensure data accuracy. We also developed automated workflows to ensure that data is updated in real-time, allowing stakeholders to make informed decisions based on the most recent data.
The pharmaceutical customer improved its supplier performance and increased overall efficiency due to the implementation of this solution. The most evident results are cost and delay reduction of various key suppliers. This intervention is the starter for supplier-oriented risk mitigation using the digital-first methodology. KPI: OTIF
